CCNP Plaque News

We would like to give thanks to Calne Without Parish Council, who have agreed to donate £300 to Calne Men's Shed on our behalf for 100 wooden plaques.

The plaques will be based on the design below and will be available free of charge to those that are enrolled in the Calne Community Nature Reserve initiative. They will be made from recycled wood and able to be attached to posts, fences, etc, to highlight your pledge (and encourage others to pledge too, which can be done here)

Follow our Facebook page to keep updated with news about when the plaques will be available and how to get yours!

Many thanks to Cllr Sue Deedigan for her support to this initiative and arranging this fantastic opportunity to expand the project.

How to create your own wildflower meadow

Natural wildflower meadows are one of the rarest habitats in the UK and we have lost 98% of our wild flower meadows since the 1930s[1]. They are a hugely diverse habitat that supports hundreds of species of invertebrates, namely pollinators such as bees. Land development and farming have all contributed to this decline but our own gardens and green spaces can offer a small haven for wildlife.

There are a variety of wildflower seeds on offer; we’d always encourage only selecting native and local provenance where possible.
