𝐁𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 (A3102) 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐱𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠

Last year three residents approached me with their idea of changing the gras cutting along the A3102 to a more relaxed schedule from the 9 cuts per year that it had undergone.

After a site visit with them, they sent me a report detailing various options.
I presented their report at Calne Town Council's Outdoor Spaces Working Group, where it was unanimously agreed to ask the Amenities, Conservation & Sustainability Manager to progress this idea with Wiltshire Council.
An update last year advised that two of the areas suggested had been requested.
Having met with the Streetscene Engineer, I can confirm that the two areas highlighted on the map have been changed to 1 cut in March and 1 cut in September with cuttings left at the tipping point for composting.
These areas will be left to promote wildflower growth. This approach to grass cutting improves biodiversity and encourages bees and other pollinators to thrive.
You will still see mowing at these areas as to ensure safety, cuts will be made to maintain visibility splays.
While we didn't get everything we wanted, I want to thank Denise, Simon, and Nick for bringing this to me and for the officers involved for working to ensure this project could be realised.
