An update from our Chair:
Yesterday, I was very grateful to be part of a River Warriors Calne project to create a small orchard at The Knapp.
While most of the physical work was done by other members of the team, I chose and sourced the self-fertile trees and was onsite to provide support and some advice about the planting of the trees.
We have planted:
Damson - Prunus Merryweather
Pear - Pyrus communis ‘Conference’
Apple - Malus domestica ‘Arthur Turner’
Cherry - Prunus cerasus 'Morello'
Pear - Prunus domestica ‘Avalon’
With this massive project done, I have now updated the management plan, which is available here:
